Who we are
Descubre Gijón is made by people from Gijón, through Diseños MGCYD. We write and put this guide together from the city itself, with both visitors and residents in mind. It is an independent guide, not an official website of Gijón City Council or the Asturias tourist board. You can reach us at mgcyd.com@gmail.com.
How we write the guides
- We use artificial intelligence tools to help with drafting and laying out the pages. What we say is checked against official sources: the City Council’s websites and open data, the Asturias tourist board, transport operators and the websites of each museum, venue or festival.
- Every guide lists, at the end, the sources behind its facts and the date they were consulted. When a guide has been fully reviewed, we say so next to the title.
- Facts that change often (opening hours, prices, dates) are only stated when we have been able to check them with an official source. Otherwise they appear in a details still to be confirmed box, with a pointer to the official source.
- We do not publish made-up reviews or visits.
Where the events calendar comes from
The calendar is updated automatically every day from Gijón City Council’s public events listing (open data under a CC BY 4.0 licence). Each event links to its official page, which takes precedence if anything changes at short notice.
Photos and maps
Photos come from Wikimedia Commons, with the author and licence shown on each page. The map uses OpenFreeMap with data © OpenStreetMap contributors.

If you spot something wrong or out of date, email mgcyd.com@gmail.com with the page address. We will check it against the official source and fix it.
