Gijón (Xixón in Asturian) has a long golfing tradition: the first golf club in Asturias was founded here. Within the municipality there are three courses: two municipal ones, open to all players at public prices, and the region’s oldest private club. All are just a few minutes from the city centre, in the green, rolling countryside on the east side of the municipality. Here is what you need to know about each.

La Llorea Municipal Golf Course (18 holes)

Gijón’s main municipal course, on the former Lloreda estate, set on a coastal plateau about 100 metres above sea level. The national road splits it in two, with the front nine on the northern side. The design is credited to Roland Favré.
