This celebration, which has more than a hundred years of history, consists of a gathering of women in which they come together to have a snack, chat and spend some time entertaining in the company of their friends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Originally it was an exclusive day for women, in which they met in more or less numerous groups to have a snack and chat. These meetings were called &quot;gatherings.&quot; Over time, these gatherings became an annual celebration that took place on the Thursday before Carnival, and which received the name of Les Comadres. Over the years, Les Comadres have become one of the most important celebrations in Gij\u00f3n, attracting thousands of women from all over Asturias, filling the city with color and joy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1201\" height=\"548\" src=\"https:\/\/descubregijon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/les-comadres.jpg\" alt=\"les comadres\" class=\"wp-image-1147\" srcset=\"https:\/\/descubregijon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/les-comadres.jpg 1201w, https:\/\/descubregijon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/les-comadres-300x137.jpg 300w, https:\/\/descubregijon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/les-comadres-768x350.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1201px) 100vw, 1201px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>But Les Comadres are not only a fun and festive celebration, they also have an important cultural, protest and social value, since it encourages friendship, solidarity and respect.
